Linda Marie Shipman, 62, of Lakeside California, passed away March 29, 2014.

Linda was born in San Diego to Ralph and Velma Moseley on May 20, 1951. She attended Crawford High School and graduated in 1969. She went on to a bachelor's degree in Religious Studies from San Diego State University followed by a primary teaching credential from the University of Alaska, Juneau.

Linda met her husband, Perry Shipman under a tree at San Diego State University and was married on January 29, 1972 at All Saints Episcopal in San Diego. They moved to Juneau, Alaska, in 1976 and lived there through 2005.

Linda was an old soul and a great listener who had warmth and caring and a smile for everyone she met. She was a lady of great loyalty, patience and fortitude who saw the best in everyone and delighted in seeing people achieve their goals.

She became a Massage Therapist in 1989 and continued actively practicing massage until a week before her death. Linda was deeply committed to fostering health, both physical and spiritual, and she was very committed to improving women's health and empowerment. Her open heart and positive, loving attitude touched and enhanced many lives. She had many friends whom she loved and who loved her.

Linda loved nature, hiking, travel, reading, film and Golden Retrievers. She was traveling in South America two months before her passing.

Linda was very active with charity and non-profit organizations with commitments to the Home of Guiding Hands, the East County Chamber of Commerce and the Golden Retriever Club of America.

She is survived by her husband, Perry, brother Arlen Moseley, sister-in-law Liz Shipman, mother-in-law Sabra Shipman, her canine children Alex and Julie, and countless friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Juneau at the Auke Bay Recreation area large shelter on Sunday, May 18th, at 2:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to the Home of Guiding Hands of San Diego or the Golden Retriever Foundation.
