Longtime Juneau resident Patricia Jane Hagerup died peacefully in her sleep at home on March 6, 2011. Her daughter, Aral, was at her side.

Patricia has been residing at the Heritage Regency Retirement Home in Sun City, Ariz., since Oct. 21, 2010. Recently, she had been hospitalized with pneumonia.

Patricia was born in Black Diamond, Wash., on Oct. 21, 1919. She moved to Alaska with her family when she was eight years old. She was a hairdresser for many years in Juneau and has the distinction of getting her hairdresser licence number one in the new state of Alaska.

Patricia and her husband, Erv, settled in Auke Bay and raised their family on Fritz Cove Road. She was an active member of the Presbyterian church at the Chapel by the Lake and was a member of PEO and of the Easter Star the majority of her life. In 1996, Ervin and Patricia retired to live in Seattle and enjoyed motorhome trips in the winter months to visit friends in the Southwest.

Patricia was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin E. Hagerup, in October of 2002.

She is survived by her son Ervin; daughter Aral; son-in-law Craig Loke; grandchildren Erik Hagerup of Huntington Beach, Calif., Ana Hagerup of Seattle and Kenny and Connie Loken of Juneau.

A memorial service will be held in Auke Bay later this spring.
