Richard A. Lang Jr.
Juneau resident Richard A. Lang Jr., originally of Angoon, died Aug. 19, 2011.
He was born Sept. 17, 1992 to Edwina John of Angoon and Richard Lang Sr. of Sitka, at SEARHC Mt. Edgecumbe hospital in Sitka.
He was from the Ch'aak kudei hít (Eagle Nest House), of the Sitka Kaagwaantaan. His Tlingit name Daakwtánk (One Can Never be Sure the Thoughts of a Bear), was the name of his paternal great-grandfather George John Sr. of Angoon.
He was a student at Yaakoosgé Daakahídi High School in Juneau, and planned to complete classes and graduate this year.
He is survived by his mother, Edwina John, father Richard Lang Sr., sister Summer John and many other family members.
There will be a memorial service at 6 p.m. today at Glacier Valley Church of God, 8497 Thunder Mountain Road. A food reception will follow, and guests are welcome to bring food (and stories) to share.
