Ronald John, Jr. went to be with the Lord joining his father, mother and other family members and friends on May 16, 2015 at the Highline Hospital in Burien, WA. He was born and raised in Angoon, Alaska on December 27, 1936 to Ronald (Sr.) and Elsie John. Ronald was the clan leader from the Raven House of Angoon. He had two Tlingit names: Yaathl' Na Woo and T'sa Xoo. He was a member of Tlingit & Haida Central Council, Sealaska Corporation, Goldbelt, Inc., and Kooznoowoo, Inc..

He attended grade school in Angoon and graduated from Mt. Edgecumbe High School in May 1956. He played basketball for the MEHS Braves. Like his father, he loved music - singing in the high school choir. He also sang with the Juneau Prayer Group that was led by his father. He played saxophone in the high school band. He was asked to sing at many memorials and he never refused. His music was appreciated by all.

Ronald was a fisherman. He was very young when he started fishing with his father. He went on to operate Purse Seiners Loyal and the Largus.
Ronald married his high school sweetheart, Betty Williams, of Saxman on September 8, 1956. Together they raised their seven children: Sons: Ronald John, III (Patty); Delbert John (Eileen), and Byron. Daughters: Rhonda Riggins (Phillip), Valarie, and Monica Hall (Sean) and Brenda Skelton. He had 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Siblings: Edward John (Laura); Bernice Donnelly; Sandra Cross (Mike); Delores Gardipee; Leonard; Charlie (Mary); Reginald (Debbie) and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his daughters: Valerie, and Brenda Skelton, father Ronald John, Sr.; mother Elsie; sisters: Eleanor John, Christina Hanlon; unnamed sister and brothers Gilbert (2).

Funeral will be held Saturday, June 13, 2015, 2:00 pm at the Church of God, Juneau, Alaska. Refreshments to follow.
