Samuel Joseph DeAsis, age 45, passed away in Olympia, WA on February 17th, 2012.

Sam's Tlingit name was Ldein. He is of the T'akdeintaan Clan, Freshwater Sockeye House. The child of Deisheetaan, Raven from the Basket Bay Arch House.

Born at St. Ann's Hospital in Juneau Alaska. Sam started his schooling in Juneau and graduated from Federal Way High. He attended Washington State University.

Although our family is large and spans far, Sam never forgot to send a special card on birthdays or significant occasions. Sam touched everyone with his wit, kind heart, generosity, and humor. Sam was very proud of his heritage and involved himself in the Native American organizations: Sealaska., Goldbelt, and Shee Atika. He took pride in his culture and loved his family and friends.

Sam is survived by his parents Milton and Sandra, Sisters; Tina Wright, Christine Law, Heidi Avery, Brothers; LeRoy, Steve, Milton Jr., & Steve Parks. He was preceded in death by his Mother Amy Lou Max, and his brother Lawrence.


A Celebration of Sam's life was held Sunday February 26th 2012 at 1:30. The service was at EMMANUEL BIBLE FELLOWSHIP, 2508 STATE AVE NE. OLYMPIA, WA. 98506
