Shaun David Friedrichs, was born July 4, 1968, in Seattle, WA to Gala and Carl Nelson and David Friedrichs. Grandma Lucy DeAsis gave her grandson Shaun an Eagle/Killerwhale Tlingit name, Gushduteen, meaning, "You can see the dorsal fin." He was the middle of three children. Shaun passed away on March 15, 2012.

Shaun's family lived in Kennewick, WA; Ketchikan; and Juneau, Juneau being the place where he attended school and made his home.

Shaun and Anita M. Everson were married at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Juneau, AK on July 15, 1994. Together they have two daughters, LaSacha and Shanaya, and one son, Skye. Shaun also had three sons, Christopher Kahklen, Michael and Nicholas Friedrichs. Shaun was a member of the ACTS Community, having attended two spiritual retreats with extended ACTS brothers and sisters. He often thought and talked of going on another retreat.

He worked various jobs throughout Juneau, his first job being with the Green's Creek Mine. He also held positions at Costco, Super Bear, Gold Creek Salmon Bake, and Alaska Airlines. When Shaun's health declined and he was unable to seek outside employment, he became a stay-at-home parent.

Shaun will be remembered for his sense of humor and his compassion and concern when people called on him for help. His interests included fishing, camping, four-wheeling, and good conversation with family and friends.

Shaun was preceeded in death by his younger brother, Steven; Grandfather, Elmer Friedrichs; Grandmother, Lucy DeAsis; Grandparents, Helen and Rusty Eldridge; and brother-in-law, Darrell Larsen.

Survivors are his wife, Anita, of 18 years; daughters, LaSacha and Shanaya, and son, Skye Friedrichs; sons, Christopher Kahklen; Michael (grandchildren Alaina and Bailey) and Nicholas Friedrichs; father, David Friedrichs of Georgia; mother and father, Gala and Carl Nelson; sister, Suzanne (Chon) Saavedra of Anchorage; nephews, Adam and Cody Larsen; niece, Brianna Larsen and family; sister-in-laws Colleen Nelson Felkl and family; Collette Cross and family; mother-in-law and brother, Alberta DeAsis Everson and Stephen.
Shaun also leaves behind many more relatives and friends too numerous to mention.

A Celebration of Life Mass will be on Wednesday, March 28, 2012, at 5:30 p.m., at St. Paul's Catholic Church, 9055 Atlin Drive, Juneau, AK. A potluck reception will follow the Mass.
