Charles D. Buggs
Charles D. Buggs born December 30, 1935 in Middletown, Ohio to Carrus and Edna Buggs.
Graduated from Washington High School, East Chicago, IN in 1953. Member of WHS State Championship Football Team in 1952. Served 3 years in the US Army. Graduated with honors from Howard University as a Fine Arts Major. Taught Junior High School in Washington, D.C. prior to moving to Juneau, AK.
In Juneau, Charles continued to teach his "Armature Method" in The Art of The Paper Mask to children and adults alike. Although his masks are representative of various African Tribes, the richness of the Native Alaskan cultures led him to study their culture and create masks using their symbolism and legends.
Charles leaves to grieve family members, brother Travis (Dee), sister, Patricia (Wilmer), deceased brother Sonny (Loretta), Nieces Trina, Edna, Michelle, and nephews Reggie, Andre', Kevin, Shawn, Brandon and a host of other family members and friends.
