Former Juneau resident, David A. Brown, 52, passed away at home in Greenacres, WA on August 2, 2013. Born in Trinidad, CO in 1961, David moved to Juneau as a two-month old. In 1968 he moved to Lehigh Acres with his mother and siblings for one year and subsequently lived in Shelby, NC for two years and in Auburn, WA before returning to Juneau to complete high school. He graduated from Juneau-Douglas High School in 1979. He joined the U.S. Army in 1982. Prior to an honorable discharge in 1985, David served at Ft. Jackson, SC; Ft. Belvoir, VA; Ft. Riley, KS; and in Germany.

David worked for a variety of companies including Pepsi Co. and Echo Bay Mines, Ltd. at the then Kensington mine prospect during the 1990's. In addition, he also attended the University of Alaska Southeast in Juneau.

David returned to Auburn in 1998; lived in St. Augustine, FL for one year; and in 2005 moved to Greenacres, WA.

David is survived by his daughter Heather (Shawn) Long and four grandchildren, Katelin Reschke, Dawson Reschke, Landon Long, and Carolyn Long of Harrisburg, OR; daughter Alyssa (Chris) Perez of Tulsa, OK; mother Wanda J. Brown of Greenacres; sister Joan Brown, nephew Mark Rainery and niece Adair Rainery of Juneau; brother Milt Brown of Desert Hot Springs, CA; former step-mother Bonnie Elder of Juneau and Desert Hot Springs; girlfriend Belinda Rice-Sylling of Auburn; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

David was pre-deceased by his father Milton A. Brown, Jr.; maternal grandparents Ruby and David Beaver; and paternal grandparents Helen and Milton A. Brown, Sr.

Services were held in Spokane and Medical Lake, WA on August 9 and David was interred with military honors at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery in Medical Lake.
