"Dottie"
Of Portage

Passed away unexpectedly Tuesday evening, January 17, 2012 at Bronson Methodist Hospital. She was born February 16, 1943 in Fredericksburg, OH, to the late Joe
and Emma (Slabaugh) Swartzentruber. On December 16, 1961, Dottie was united in marriage to Maynard Hershberger. She worked as an R.N. at both Borgess and Bronson Hospitals in Kalamazoo and retired from Lakeview Community Hospital in Paw Paw in 2006 after working there for over 15 years. She was a very loving and giving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many and will be greatly missed. Surviving are her husband of 50 years, Maynard Hershberger; two sons, Stewart (Catherine) of Portage and Spencer (Trina) of Millbury, OH; seven grandchildren Stacie, Tyler, Matthew, Amanda, Haleigh, Kindsay, Haylin; one brother, Walter Swartzentruber; four sisters, Donna (Roy) Miller of Apple Creek, OH, Ruth (Earl) Nussbaum of Fredericksburg, OH, Norma (Chris) Kirchner of Dalton, OH, and Betty (Gary) Cooper of East Greenville, OH; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were a son, Scott Hershberger in 2005; one sister, Kathy King; and one great grandson, Caleb. Friends may visit with the family from 10 AM-1 PM on Saturday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Avenue, with a funeral service beginning at 1:00 PM with Rev. James Dyke officiating. Interment will follow in South Portage Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to a charity of one's choice.
