1/19/23 - Helen Fulton sends condolences to Dixie and the extended family.
She just tried to call Betty and found her phone disconnected. We then found her obituary online.
So sad we didn't know about her passing last year.

I've known Cousin Betty my entire life. One of my earliest memories of her was teaching her to play ping-pong in my parents basement in Yorkville Mi in the 1950s...she wasn't good at it AND she was willing to try her best. I've always admired her tenacity and willingness to try new things.
I've lived in Hawaii for over 30 years, and every visit to family back in Michigan included Betty... it will be strange not to see her on my next visit.
I'm glad we've shared the occasional phone conversation over the years and I was able to chat with her shortly before her passing ending the call with, " Love You Cousin Betty".

Betty was a very special lady to me! We enjoyed many meals together, as well as music in the park at the Portage Bandshell. One of her favorite concerts was the Glenn Miller Orchestra, especially when they played "I got a gal in Kalamazoo". We talked on the phone often, usually to plan something. She loved doing crossword puzzles and she always went through the books so quickly, it took many people to keep her supplied with them. I have so many good memories of Betty and I miss her. She will always be in my heart. I love you, Betty!

I loved Betty, and I miss her very much already. Her association with my family extended over three generations: she was a classmate of my mother at South Westnedge School in the 1930s and State High in the 1940s. She worked at KVP Sutherland with my grandfather in the 1950s, and she worked with me at The Upjohn Co in the 1980s and 1990s. Since then, we shared many meals out, and attended plays and concerts, usually with Marie Allison, and often joined by my mother and Marie's husband Ron. Recently, COVID put a damper on our fun, but we still found ways to gather safely, and we spoke on the phone at least twice a week. Those calls always included a "So, when are we going to get together?" and ended with a "Love you!" We all need such loyal friends in our lives, and Betty's passing will leave a large void in mine. I hope she is enjoying a Kahlua and cream in Heaven, and listening to a concert of angels. I love you, Betty.
