Cupit, Madonna R. 89, loving wife, mother, and grandmother passed away Sunday, December 9, 2012. Donna led a full and active life as the mother of her three girls and loved serving in her church and community. She particularly loved singing in the choir at First United Methodist Church, and being a part of the Double Ring Sunday School class. She was a member of P.E.O. Chapter FY, the Music Theatre of Wichita Guild, Sister Cities, and the Melodears singing group. She enjoyed volunteering at Botanica and Wichita Radio Reading Service for the blind. Donna graduated from the University of Illinois and held master's degrees in both French and Library Science. She taught French at Friends University and later worked as a realtor. Donna also loved traveling abroad to Europe, and being involved in numerous mission trips with her husband and grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, Curtis A. and Gertrude (Tremble) Lawrence. Survivors: husband, Charles Cupit; daughters, Janon (Jim) Otto of Overland Park, Christie (Larry) LeMaster of Wichita, Carol (Alan) Yankey of Overland Park; grandchildren, Emily Otto (Adam) Griffin, Kayley and Natalie Otto, Brett, Grace and Lindy LeMaster, Julie, Tyler, and Kristin Yankey. Memorial service to be held at 1:30 P.M., Saturday, December 15, 2012 at First United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established with First United Methodist Church Organ Fund, 330 N. Broadway, Wichita, KS 67202. Downing & Lahey Mortuary East. We have two ways of remembering people who leave us and start another journey.
We either cry over their absence, or smile and remember them through the countless memories that we have. I'm sure Donna wants you to smile forever.
