Brazil, Lynda J. - Winfield  
WINFIELD-Brazil, Lynda J. 72, passed away Saturday, August 29, 2015, at her home. Born August 9, 1943, in Red Wing, Minnesota, the daughter of Lyman and Gladys (Severson) Lane. She was raised in Anthony, Kansas, graduating from Anthony High School in 1961. She then attended Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas. She double majored in English and Art and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts. She also earned certification to teach Jr. High students. Lynda was united in marriage to Bill Brazil on August 26, 1964, in Anthony, Kansas. The couple made their first home in Winfield while they finished their studies at Southwestern College. In 1965, they moved to Kansas City, Missouri, for Bill to attend Saint Paul School of Theology. While in Kansas City, Lynda worked as a copy artist for Hallmark Cards. Bill and Lynda's ministry for the United Methodist Church included service in: Morland, Liberal, Atwood, Salina, Larned, Beloit, and Belleville. Lynda served in numerous capacities with the church including Sunday School Teacher, Choir Member, Youth Camp Dean and Conference Council on Youth Ministries Leader. After retiring the couple moved to Ottawa, Kansas in 2007. In 2013, they returned to Winfield. She was a member of Tisdale United Methodist Church and Conference Mates in Ministry. She enjoyed the arts, singing, camping, and canoe trips. Her family includes: her husband, Bill Brazil of Winfield; sons, David (Joanna) Brazil of Winfield; Brian (Jacqueline) Brazil of Lawrence; grandchildren, Adalia and William Brazil of Winfield; sisters, Jeannie (Walker) Hendrix of Lawrence; Mary (Gary) Cole of Ottawa; and her sister-in-law: Judy Clawson of Blue Springs, MO. Lynda was preceded in death by her parents. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 26, 2015, at Tisdale United Methodist Church, east of Winfield. Inurnment will follow at Tisdale Cemetery. Miles Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements. Memorials have been established in Lynda's name for Tisdale United Methodist Church Building Fund, United Methodist Church Youth Camps Horizon and Lakeside, and for the Alzheimer's Association. Craft, Judith Ann age 79, was born February 11, 1936, in Wichita and entered eternal rest on Monday, August 31, 2015. Judy's passion in life was her family. She loved her family unconditionally, and made each family member feel her love with every contact. She was devoted to her faith, and was an avid genealogist. Judy loved memorializing family outings and gatherings through scrapbooking, also adorning her family members' homes with beautiful quilted and crocheted handiwork. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Bess Bazzelle, and husband, Kenneth Craft. She is survived by her children, Julia Craft, Mary (Joe) Craft-McClosky, Becky Craft (Jackie Stuart), Ed (Monica) Craft; grandchildren, Valerie (Donnell) Bowen, Nathan (Mimi) Craft, Audrey Craft, Tyson Craft; three great-grandchildren. Visitation 6-8 p.m. Thursday, September 3; Funeral Service 2 p.m. Friday, September 4, both at Hillside Funeral Home West, 2929 W. 13th St., Wichita, Kansas. Burial will be at Resthaven Cemetery.

Griggs, Darrell K. - Hutchinson  
SEDGWICK-Griggs, Darrell K. 46, died August 30, 2015, after a courageous battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. He was born March 12, 1969, in Hutchinson, Kansas, to Kendall and Sylvia Griggs. Darrell graduated from Buhler High School where he was active in cross country and track in 1987. He then attended Hutchinson Community College, where he received an Associates Degree in Pre-Professional Engineering in 1989. He graduated from Kansas State University in 1991 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Darrell worked at Farmland Industries in Dodge City, Kansas, until 1998, at which time he was transferred to the Farmland Industries plant in Lawrence, Kansas. He worked there until the plant closed in 2003, at which time he began working for Westar Energy in Wichita, Kansas. In 2006, Darrell began his career at Piping and Equipment in Wichita, Kansas, and was employed there until his health no longer allowed him to work in 2011. Darrell met Christine Marie Clark on a blind date while both were students at Kansas State University in 1991, and they were married on December 4, 1993, in Hutchinson, Kansas. They have three children, Paige, Tyler, and Lauren Griggs. Darrell was very active in their lives, coaching soccer, basketball, and t-ball. Darrell found the most joy and contentment in being a part of his children's lives, showering them with love, dry wit, and his presence at every one of their events until he could no longer possibly do so. Darrell was a man of faith, with an unwavering trust in God, whose life was an example of compassion and giving. He was active in the churches he attended throughout the years serving on church boards, teaching Sunday School, volunteering in the nursery, and teaching youth bible study. Darrell is survived by his wife and children of Sedgwick, Kansas; mother, Sylvia Griggs, of Hutchinson, Kansas; and sister, Janelle Hanson, of Andover, Kansas. He is also survived by numerous beloved family members including nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins, aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his father, Kendall Griggs; paternal grandparents, Lloyd and Annabelle Griggs; and maternal grandparents, Harold and Margaret Leak. Memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 5, 2015, at the First Christian Church, 514 N Franklin Ave. in Sedgwick, KS, with Pastor Kim Beckwith officiating. The family will greet friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. Private family burial will be held at Halstead Cemetery. Memorial gifts are suggested to Rivercross Hospice, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
