So sorry to here about Jim's passing. I met Jim 8/17/10 so I only knew him a short time but liked him right off. He was so interesting and active. I enjoyed working with him that short time and always looked forward to conversations and where they might lead. God Bless. You will be missed.

Jim's father, "Louie" Pracht, visited my family's small jewelry store in Greenwood County for many years. Louie was a jewelry salesman and I initially met Jim when he accompanied his Dad to our store in the 60's. My folks had hired a cute HS girl to work in the store, and I still fondly recall Jim trying to impress her as he assisted Louie in displaying the women's jewelry items. Pierced ears made a comeback around that time and I remember Louie giving my mother a lovely pair of sterling earrings - it may have been Louie who also pierced Mom's ears with the "gun" that was used back then. My parents and I visited Jim when the LJ Pracht Co. was still located on the South side of the street, and Jim was very gracious in giving us a tour of the upstairs area. Unfortunately, I only saw Jim one more time after that. He was as friendly as ever when I identified myself, and kindly encouraged me to bring my resale license # the following visit when I bought more beads. I was unaware of Jim's illness and so sorry to recently discover his Obit in the paper. My parents are both deceased now and Louie passed away many years ago. I didn't know Jim very well but am so honored to have known him and his father. I so appreciate that special time in retail history when we didn't have the Internet and depended on the salesmen who became part of the family. I miss you, Jim and Louie!

Jim will be missed by everyone, he was a very interesting person. He was a friend and a neighbor. He was always so helpful in his knowledge of gemstones, I loved talking to him when we both had time. We will really miss him. Kathy Atkinson, Advantage Beads & Gifts, Jennifer Atkinson, ABC Beads & Gifts.

No doubt a special man that will be missed dearly. 30 years ago he made our wedding rings, later he beautifully crafted another piece for my husband to give me and just this past year made an engagement ring for our son to give to his fiance. But what I remember the most was his great smile and he always knew us and was so interested in how we were doing. I am so sorry to say that we didn't know he became ill. His memory will live on in our family forever. Our thoughts and prayers to his family and friends.

Jim...what a character...always a kind, generous, optimistic friend. Never a complaint from you...taking everything in stride...including the heinous disease that took over your body. Glad we had our recent lengthy conversation...you were ready to go on to the next level of your faith. I'm sure you are sampling "the grapes" in total peace. We will miss you. Ruthie and Matt

A dear man whose company was always a pleasure. We enjoyed spending time talking with him at his store, and listening to him share his stories. He was also very generous, but it was something you had to find out from others: Jim always gave to those in need without looking for or wanting recognition. He will be missed very much.
