I thought they looked like grapes, so I tried to eat one. I was really surprised! They were awful! When you were here we had so much fun! Today is your birthday. You would be 87 years old. I wish you were here so we could have a party with a silly cake. Deciding on a funny idea for the cake was always fun, even if you didn't like them all the time. I don't know if you liked the one that year you had poison ivy, and the cake was you with red, itchy feet. You were always a good sport about it, and we had lots of fun! I miss you, and I love you, very much! I will see you soon!

I miss my Mom and Dad. It's is still just so unreal that we can't go out there and see them anymore. I am so glad that we had them in our lives, and we were so blessed in that way! It's been a year, today, since Mom passed away. I know she is in a much better place. It was hard for her those last few years, and I am so glad she is with the Lord! Dear Debbie, my heart is breaking for you. The holidays are the lonliest times when you can't spend them with your parents. It's hard to make it through. I know I couldn't do it without the Lord. This was the first Thanksgiving without Mom. I miss you, Mom! You always made such great Thanksgiving dinners! We had great times all gathering with you and Dad. I have some really great memories. I wish I had been more mindful to take photos and write stuff down! I enjoy reading the journals you left, Mom! So very sorry to hear about Aunt Essie. I was so happy to get to know her again after so many years. I loved her beautiful smile, and I think she had a little bit of a mischievous streak in her. A woman after my own heart. I will miss her and look forward to seeing her again someday. Sorry I did not get to convey my condolences at the funeral, but just know that my thoughts and prayers are with you all. May God wrap his arms around you and give you peace & comfort in this time of sorrow. If you think Aunt Essie had a big smile here on earth, can you imagine the smile she has now!! We were so sorry to hear about Aunt Essie's passing. Especially after losing Mother so recently. Wish we could have made the trip to be with y'all because having y'all with us to say goodbye to Mother meant so much to us.
