West, Albert Daniel "Dan," 84, retired Custom Paperhanger and Painter, passed away Aug. 29, 2013. Private graveside services were conducted at the Winfield, Kan. National Veterans Cemetery on Monday, Sept. 9, 2013. Dan attended Central Intermediate School and graduated in 1948 from East High School. He also attended Wichita University. Dan was a Navy Veteran and served on the Battleship Iowa and was present on the ship at Bikini Atoll in the Pacific during an atomic bomb test. He is survived by four daughters, Kathleen, Patricia, Colleen and Sarah; five grandchildren, including Jessica Manns and five great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Paul of Wichita, John of Rockaway Beach, Mo. and sister, Nancy of Santa Rosa, Calif. Tributes may be made to the VFW and Salvation Army.
