TOPEKA - Neuburger, Evelyn Lorene, 89, died Friday, March 28, 2014, at Midland Hospice, Topeka, Kan. She was born Dec. 15, 1924, in Gasville, Ark., to Claude and Flossie Mullins. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. Evelyn attended schools throughout Oklahoma and Kansas. She graduated from Red Rock High School in Oklahoma. During World War II Evelyn worked at Tinker Air Base in Oklahoma City and was a student at Edmond State College. At Turner Falls, she met her future husband, Ted Neuburger, who was serving in the Navy. She married Ted on Jan. 21, 1947, in Ellis, Kan. They were married for over 67 years. Evelyn's greatest joy was her family. Until recently, she was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Pratt, Kan. She was a member of several bridge clubs in Pratt, as well as an avid reader, crossword puzzle solver, golfer and sports fan. Survivors include her husband, Ted, Auburn, Kan.; Loretta Dreiling and husband, Gene, Hays, Kan.; Mike Neuburger and wife, Mary, Lenexa, Kan.; Jo Neuburger, Cherryvale, Kan.; Rick Neuburger and wife, Cathy, Pratt, Kan.; Ted Neuburger and wife, Mina, Auburn; Rose Wirick and husband, Randy, Stillwell, Kan.; Jean Ewing and husband, Rob, Olathe, Kan.; Jackie Harmon and husband, Duke, Manhattan, Kan.; 20 grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren; her sister, Marie Roberts, Hutchinson, Kan.; and Donna Neuburger, Springfield, Mo., wife of Larry Neuburger. She was preceded in death by her parents; two infant sons; two children, Larry Neuburger and Kris Neuburger; and her sister, Loretta Wilhelm. Rosary/Vigil will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 3, at Larrison Mortuary, 300 Country Club Road, Pratt, Kan., and family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday, April 4, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Pratt, with Rev. Floyd McKinney presiding. Inurnment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Pratt. Memorial contributions can be made to South Wind Hospice in care of the mortuary.
