Fred Duensing Obituary

WINFIELD - Duensing, Fred William Sr. "Bill," 80 , formerly of Winfield and Wichita, died March 9, 2012 at the Lifecare of Andover Center. Memorial service 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 16, 2012 at Swisher-Taylor & Morris Chapel in Winfield. Inurnment following at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery in Winfield. Condolences may be sent to [email protected]. Bill was born April 25, 1931 in Cedar Vale, Kan., to the late Fred Henry and Gladys May (Anderson) Duensing. He was the oldest of five children. He was raised and educated in the Cedar Vale and Moline area graduating from Moline High School. He joined the U.S. Navy, where he served as a medical corpsman with the Marine Corp. He served during the Korean War. After the service he used his medical training working at the WSH and TC two different times, as well as several other care facilities in Minn., Ore. and Calif. He had also lived in Okla. He retired from the Winfield State Hospital in the 1990's. He had been a member of Winfield American Legion and was an avid fisherman. He married Alice Jean (Hocker) June 10, 1965 and she survives, other survivors are: sons, Fred William "Bill" Duensing, Jr (Becky) of Wichita, Shawn McCanse Duensing (Lesa) of Warrensburg, Mo.; daughter, April Deeann Duensing of Wichita; sisters, Leona Hamm of Ponca City, Okla., Jeanie Kistler of Udall, June Rocky of Topeka; 11 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by infant siblings, Robin, Andrew, Angie and a brother, Robert.

To the family of Bill Duensing, we express our deepest sympathies and prayers. May he rest in peace and God Bless Alice and all family.
We have MANY years of happy memories, camping, fishing, etc, "You To Sharon" April's pet hamster, from before April's birth to this day, our thoughts are most treasured. No better neighbor or friends could we have been blessed with. Our love to all.
