Jenkins, Harriette Adams (Branch), passed away on Friday, August 23, 2013. Funeral Services, 1:30 pm, Tuesday, Aug. 27, at Metropolitan Baptist Church, 525 W. Douglas, with interment at White Chapel Cemetery. She was born Feb. 9, 1914, in Belen, NM to Wallace T. and Gertrude R. Branch. She moved to Wichita in 1920. After graduating from East High and attending Friends University, she taught school at Arkansas Ave. in Wichita. She met JC Jenkins and they married on August 23, 1938. Harriette and JC worked side by side in their business for 30 years at Jenkins Market in the 1400 block of N. Broadway. Harriette was a charter member of Metropolitan Baptist Church. She was an active member of ACAP, EHU, Eastern Star, 20th Century Club, and Girl Scouts. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, JC; parents; sister, Jean; daughter, Janet Carole. Survivors include Janet's boys, Matt (Cindy), Dave (Stephenie); daughter, Sally (Robert), and their daughters, Monica, Karla (Garrett), and Melanie (Marc); great-grandchildren, Katie, Thomas, Elizabeth, Sarah, Abbi, Marlee, Joshua, and Amelia; nieces, Jeanette and Laura; nephew, Henry, and Kay Horton, whom she always considered her daughter.
