ISABEL - Brant, James "Jim" Chesney, age 81, died Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014, at South Wind Hospice in Pratt. He was born May 27, 1932, in rural Pratt County to Charles C. and Zoe D. (Thompson) Brant. He married Dorris Stapleton on Sept. 1, 1953, in Wichita. She survives. He was a farmer and District Administrator for Kansas Farm Bureau for 32 years and active in Pratt County 4-H. Jim is survived by his wife, Dorris; two daughters, Solveig Brant and husband, Jon Faubion of Manhattan, KS, Sonja and husband, Randy Betzen of Wichita; two granddaughters, Elizabeth Joy Betzen, Jennifer Jewell Betzen; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, E. Joy Schnackenberg and Mary Louise Peterie. Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014, at First United Methodist Church, Pratt with Reverends Jan Blasi and Louis Keeling presiding. Jim has donated his body to science at KU Medical Center.
