DERBY Sooter, M. Roberta, 92, homemaker, passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2010. Visitation 1-8 p.m., Thursday with family receiving friends 5-7 p.m., Smith Mortuary 1415 N. Rock Rd., Derby. Funeral service 10 a.m., Friday, First Presbyterian Church, 324 N Baltimore, Derby. Roberta was born October 30, 1917 on a farm in Jackson County to Cleve and Mabel Martin. She graduated from Meridan High School and Kansas State Teachers College in Pittsburg. She taught in one room country schools and in graded city schools. On August 1, 1950, she married Joyce Milton Sooter, he, along with 5 brothers and 4 sisters, preceded her in death. Survivors: sons, John (Denise), of Rio de Janeiro, David (Vivian), of Wichita, Mark (Karen), of Girard; daughter, Ann (Tom) Roberts, of Derby; brothers, Bob Martin and Jack Martin, both of Topeka; 21 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
