Lance, Ruth Charlene, 93, of Wichita, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2014, at Larksfield Place Health Care in Wichita. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. John F. Lance, Jr. in 1999. She is survived by sister, Martha Hobson; daughters, Linda (Sanford) Greenberg, Jane (James) Taylor; and son, John F. Lance, III (Sheryl); 6 grandchildren, Peter (Melanie) Deardorff, Lance (Dr. Valerie) Deardorff, Erin (Ward) Svarvari, Spencer Taylor and fiance', Addie Petersen, Dustin (Britney) Hanes, Darcy (Morgan) McNeal; 9 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Ruth was a member of Hillside Christian Church and PEO chapter I-EW. She was a talented seamstress and cross-stitcher, winning several blue ribbons and Best of Show at the Kansas State Fair for her work and was an avid knitter and crocheter. Reception with the family present will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Monday, Sept. 1, 2014, at Lakeview Funeral Home, 12100 E. 13th St. N., Wichita. Private entombment will be at a later date.
