Metz, Ralph Henry, age 93, retired Beechcraft Instrument Engineer for greater than 40 years, passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2014. He was born September 3, 1920 in Emporia, KS, the son of Henry and Bertha (Schallehn) Metz. Ralph honorably served in the US Army, 3rd Army-13th Armored Division, 93rd Calvary Reconnaissance Squadron, serving during WWII in the Central European Theatre, Rhineland, Germany. Ralph was preceded in death by parents; daughter, Georgalee Alvarez; son-in-law, Larry Alvarez; son, Larry Ralph Metz; grandson, Christopher E. Metz; brother, Elbert August Metz. Survivors: his wife of 49 years, Rosaleen "Rosie" Metz; son, James Paul and wife, Sharon Terese Metz; daughter-in-law, Judith Ann Metz; grandchildren, Alex Metz, Joshua Paul and wife, Elizabeth "Beth" Metz, Jeremy Henry Metz, Tonya Michelle and husband, Vincent Owen; great-grandchildren, Sydney Lynn and Jacob Ryan Metz, Peyton Rain Owen. Visitation 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; funeral service 2 p.m. both Saturday, at Lakeview Funeral Home, 12100 E. 13th St., Wichita.
