ROBERT PARKS VROOMAN Sr.

Robert Parks Vrooman, Sr., died peacefully on Sept. 25, 2012, at Menorah Medical Center, surrounded by his family. Bob was born on Dec. 19, 1932, in Kansas City. His parents were Frank Ellsworth Vrooman and Roberta Parks Vrooman. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Frank E. Vrooman, Jr., and Richard C. Vrooman. Bob grew up in a musical household. His father was a tenor, and the three boys inherited their father's voice. They very often sang together, with their mother on piano. They were well-known as boy sopranos, most particularly at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, where Bob also served as an acolyte. Bob played football at Southwest High School and attended the University of Missouri, where he studied history and was a member of Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity. He continued his interest in music and theater throughout his adult life, appearing in local productions at the Jewish Community Center, The Barn Players, the Circle Theatre, and the Lyric Opera. Professionally, Bob was the Regional Manager for National Fidelity Life in Stuttgart, Germany, from 1959 to 1961. Returning to Kansas City he became president of Moneycare International, a financial services company that he developed. He was a life and qualifying member of the Million Dollar Round Table for 25 years. He was also a former CEO of Swiss Technique. Bob leaves behind four children: Penelope Hall Vrooman, Victoria Vrooman Petersen and her husband, Brian, Robert Parks Vrooman, Jr., and his wife, Jennifer, and Peter Aikins Vrooman and his wife, Kenyon; eight grandchildren, and his former wife, Penelope Smith Vrooman. Contributions in Bob's name may be made to a charity of your choice. Private burial at Mt. Washington Cemetery. A reception celebrating Bob's life will be held on Sat., Sept. 29, from 4-7 p.m. at the home of Penelope Vrooman, 1223 West 67th Terrace, Kansas City, MO.
