CLARK PAGE Obituary

Clark McKew Page died peacefully at the Kingswood Community, April 5, 2013. He was born July 23, 1921 in Kansas City, MO. Early childhood was at Norman Grade School where the principal, Miss Lucy Smoot, made a lasting impression on his life. He attended Westport High School, Kansas City Junior College, and graduated from the University of Kansas in 1943, where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. From 1943 to 1946, he served in the Navy, first as the gunnery officer of the LST 493, and later as commanding officer of the LCL 472. He participated in the invasion of Normandy on D-Day. He worked for the William Volker Co., followed by Gustin-Bacon Mfg. Co., and Commerce Bank until 1983. He served as Chairman of Kansas City Sister Cities, as a member of the Vestry of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, as Director of Court 54, Royal Order of Jesters, and President of the Kansas City Chapter of the Sons of the Revolution. He had fond memories of his time in Cursillo. Clark was grateful for memories and friends made on wonderful trips with wife Georgette, especially those to England, Mexico, and Jerusalem. He was preceded in death by his parents, the late Ben and Lorraine Shields Page, and his brother, Maxwell Page. He leaves his wife of 65 years, Georgette Stanley Page, children Sallie Page-Goertz (Kenn) and Clark "Chip" McKew Page,Jr (Teri); grandchildren Christopher Page-Goertz (Kristine), Eli Page- Goertz, Ashley Page, Andy Page and great grand daughter Emily. He also leaves his sister-in-law Jill Page Johnson and many nieces and nephews. We are grateful for his caregivers Bob Gakinya and Kingswood staff. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to your favorite charity. Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 20th, 10:00am, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Kansas City, MO

I remember so much. Playboy, and bringing him carrots and apples after school when I was little. I remember sleigh rides with Playboy, on Christmas day if we had snow. I remember being a flower girl in his wedding with Georgette and wearing a dress that was a miniature of hers. I remember the bathroom at the house on High Drive which was papered top to bottom with pictures of the Page family. I remember picking bouquets of lillies of the valley. I remember how proud he was of Sally graduating from nursing school.

Georgette,
I want you to know we are thinking of you this holiday season. Bless you and your loving family. I hear that you are always looking after my parents. That is what has always made you so special. You are very caring and loving.
So many fond memories of you and Clark. Many of them were at St. Pauls and many of them were at our house on 53rd St. Clark loved to stop by on his way home from work and talk shop with dad. He was special to us as are you and your lovely children. Enjoy them this Christmas and always.

Deat Page family,
Having known you all and of course Mr. Page for virtually all my life, I join in the heartfelt sorrow and sense of loss that I kn ow you all are feeling. Mr. Page always struck me as a natural leader and authority figure--his quick wit, his obvious physical stature, his way of conducting himself. For those of us just barely a generation behind, he was in many ways an excellent role model. His presence will definitely be missed.
My family's thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this difficult time.

My heart is so filled with memories of Clark, Georgette, Pagie, Ben, Sally and Chip. Remember Playboy who used to pull us on the sleigh on snowy days? I was a flower girl 65 years ago,and dressing in a white lace dress like Georgette's was the most wonderful and magical moment of my world. I will never forget all of the wonderful contacts over the years. It has been such an honor to stay in touch over the years.
I am so glad I got by to visit. He was indeed peaceful and relaxed. I missed you Georgette but look forward to another day. God has blessed you both and your wonderful family.
