LeRoy Duane Gore, 89, of Lee's Summit, Mo., passed away December 2, 2013. His wishes were to have his ashes scattered at the Veterans National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to John Knox Village Foundation for Village Hospice, 400 NW Murray Rd, Lee's Summit, MO 64081 . LeRoy was born Jan. 19, 1924, in Independence, Mo. He was a WWII Veteran serving in the Merchant Marines. He completed tours in the Atlantic and Mediterranean theaters. After the war LeRoy married Kathleen Gash. They were married for 65 years (1948-2013). He went on to become an engineer working for Vendo Co., DIT-MCO Intl. and Venture Industries. In 2011 he was thrilled to participate in the Honor Flight Program that flies veterans to the Nation's Capital to visit the war memorials. Survivors are his wife, Kathleen; daughter, Kathy Hoffman and son- in-law John Hoffman; granddaughter, Jill Hoffman and grandson, Nick Hoffman, brother, Dean Gore; and sister, Frankie Hancock. Leroy was a gentle, happy man that I really enjoyed working with at Venture. Always had a smile, and brightened everyones day. His memory will always bring a happy memory to my mind. Miss you friend.
