Bernie was one of the warmest women I know, and the most unaffected. Always direct, open, and so kind to me 40 years ago when I was a younger, green outsider in an older social circle. Bernie was an accomplished woman who never talked about it, and such a comfortable pleasure to be with. She will be missed and continue to be loved.
