CASEY POINTER Obituary

May 16, 1979 - Jan. 1, 2011 Casey D. Pointer, 31, of Kansas City, MO, passed away January 1, 2011 at home surrounded by his family and close friends. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at Visitation Church, 5141 Main, Kansas City, MO, where a prayer service will be held at 4 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 5th, at the church. Interment will follow at Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Casey Pointer Memorial Fund, c/o Country Club Bank, attn: Shirley Schmelzinger, 414 Nichols Rd, Kansas City, MO 64112. Casey was born May 16, 1979 in Liberal, KS, to Jerry and Lily Pointer, and graduated from Centralia High School in 1997. Casey was diagnosed with cancer of an unknown primary in 2005 when his daughter, Jane, was born. He then, in his words, "retired," and was able to spend every day helping raise his daughter. Casey always had a smile on his face and he could always make friends with everyone he met. He loved to tell jokes and stories and loved life and lived it to the absolute fullest. He enjoyed riding his Harley motorcycle and even went to Sturgis, twice. Casey was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents. He is survived by his loving wife, Christy Dustin Pointer; daughter, Jane Marie Pointer; his mother and father, Jerry and Lily Pointer; brother, Corey Pointer and wife Kim; his mother and father-in- law, Craig and Carole Ann Dustin; sisters-in-law, Becky Carr and husband Damon, Lynn Dustin, Laura Poeppelman, and husband Ryan; and six nieces and nephews. I was in the group with Casey last August riding to Sturgis and back. We had a very good trip and I enjoyed getting to know Casey. He was a fine young man and spoke about his family often. I will miss not seeing him on his Harley and my prayers are with his family.
