Greg was born in St. Louis, MO, on Dec. 20, 1948 to Nathan and Estelle Perlstein, the oldest of three children. He graduated from Ladue High School in St. Louis. While in high school Greg worked in the family fur business, Perlstein Furs in downtown St. Louis. He studied economics at the University of Missouri, Columbia. Greg practiced law for ten years and then chose a new career path. He returned to the University of Missouri, Kansas City, where he earned a PhD in psychology. He used his calm, peaceful demeanor to soothe the 'muddy waters' of The United States Postal Service, serving as a manager of Workplace Intervention for 19 years. Greg was preceded in death by his mother, Estelle Kutten Perlstein, and brother-in-law, Andrew Scallet. He is survived by his daughters and son-in-law: Sara and Jason Gordon, Emily Perlstein, all of Overland Park, KS; father, Nathan Perlstein; sister, Madelon Scallet, both of Little Rock, AR; brother: Richard Perlstein, St. Louis, MO; grandchildren: Bennett Gordon and Lucy Gordon. I knew Greg while we were both in high school. I lost contact with him but recently spoke with him when a mutual friend put us in touch with each other. I knew then he was a gentle caring person with great sense of humor. I'm glad I reconnected with him and I know I benefited from having him a friend early in life. My thoughts are with his family and friends.

I had the pleasure of working with Greg! He was very passionate about his work. Even though he was domiciled in KC he worked hard on Western Area's goals just as if his office was down the aisle from me. He was passionate, compassionate, witty & a valued asset to our team. He leaves me with so many fond memories - I'm very grateful to have had the pleasure of knowing and working with him.

My Prayers are with your family.
What a treasure to have had a strong, compassionate man in your lives. I know if he was able to smile with us he truly was a genuine soul. We put every Psychological theory to the test while he was with us, but he still found a way to keep on smiling. He was genuuine. I could see the part in him where he hurt when you hurt. But, most of all he loved people. He truly did fight the the good fight, he finished his race, and he kept the faith.
