FRED LEE SHAMBLIN

Fred Lee Shamblin, 77, of Belton, went to be with the Lord, August 29, 2013. Fred was born Dec. 28, 1935, in Mammoth, WV, the oldest of 10 children of Hansford and Helen Shamblin. He served six years in the Air Force and was a graduate of University of Texas, Arlington, with a degree in Electrical Engineering. For five years he was a district manager for Shell Oil Company in Richmond, VA, then a regional manager for Emerson Power Transmission in Kansas City for 27 years before retiring. After retiring, Fred became a Realtor for Reece Nichols. He was a member of South Kansas City Baptist Church and the American Legion and the NRA. He was a sports enthusiast of baseball, softball, bowling and golf, coaching 3/2 Little League for several years. Fred was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Leroy, Danny, and Roger Shamblin, and a step grandson, Brandon. Survivors include his wife, Barbara of the home; daughter, Vicki Griswold (Danny) of Lone Jack, MO; son, David Shamblin (Timi) of Leawood, KS; two granddaughters, Anna and Lea; one step grandson, Chris; two brothers, Charles Shamblin of Dunbar, WV, Chester Shamblin of Hudson, WI; four sisters, Doris Romjue of Smyrna, DE, Janet Gore of Pensacola, FL, Karen Wymer of Scott's Depot, WV, Debra Custer of Tallahassee, FL; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, at South Kansas City Baptist Church followed by services at 10:30 a.m. Private interment in Missouri Veterans' Cemetery, Higginsville, MO.
