LARRY DAVID GREENE

Larry D. Greene, 58, of Grandview, MO died in his home Oct. 3, 2013 with his wife's arms around him after a heroic battle with cancer. Memorial celebration will be 5-7pm Mon. Oct. 7 at McGilley & George Funeral Home in Grandview. Contributions suggested to Man's Best Friend Pet Resort, 329 S Mullen Rd Belton MO 64012. Larry was born Oct. 30, 1954 in Detroit, MI. He graduated high school in Detroit and played drums in the high school drum corp and went on to play drums and did sound work for the Marshall Tucker Band. He was a Summa Cum Laude grad at Macomb Community College with a Degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1996. Larry was the crew chief in the pit crew for Daytona 24 hrs race for the Porches Team for many years. Larry worked for General Motors for 20 yrs. He was a member of American Heartland Harley Owners Group and received the Iron Butt Award in 2012. He volunteered for Special Olympics for 30yrs. Larry was a member of the "Tall Dog" Bicycle Club in Ames, IA. Preceded in death by his father, Lee Greene. Survived by wife, Cheryel Cross-Greene of the home; daughter, Salena Turner, Lee's Summit MO; mother, Rubie Greene, Edgewater FL; sister, Carole and Bill Warren, Grand Rapids, IA; granddaughter, Brianna Turner and his best friend, Ducky, his chocolate Lab.
