January 3, 1930 - December 12, 2013 Shirley Ruth (Giles) Forsythe passed away on December 12, 2013, at the age of 83. Shirley was born on January 3, 1930, in Addison, Illinois, the daughter of Evelyn (Munson) and Howard Giles. Raised in Saxonburg, PA, she lived most of her life in Reisterstown, MD, and Kansas City, MO. Shirley graduated from Penn State University
, and received her Master's Degree in Education from Webster University. Shirley was a teacher for 33 years. She loved teaching 4th and 5th graders for their openness and love of learning. In retirement, she worked at the Unity Church prayer- line. She was an advocate for women's rights and supported many organizations. Shirley loved to journal for hours while sipping on a latte, dressing up and wearing hats, and her many women friends. Shirley was a deep-thinking and spiritually- based person with many diverse interests. She was a loving person with a beautiful soul and will be deeply missed. Shirley is survived by her ex- husband, Thomas V. Forsythe of Kansas City, MO; children, Tom and partner Larry of Kansas City, MO, Christa of Boulder, CO, Todd and wife Sondra of Prairie Village, KS; and sister, Iolene Shields of Eutis, FL; as well as many nieces and nephews.
