LARRY BROCKHOFF Obituary

Larry L. Brockhoff, 69, of Higginsville, MO, died at 5:30 a.m., Friday, August 20, 2010, at the V. A. Medical Center in Kansas City, MO. Larry was born October 3, 1940 in Higginsville to Waldo Carl and Ollie Frances (Henderson) Brockhoff. He married Linda Crownover of Kansas City, MO on April 12, 1978; she preceded him in death on November 24, 1998. Survivors include one son, Chad W. Brockhoff of Gladstone, MO; one daughter, Suzanne Brockhoff of Kansas City, MO; three step-daughters Letitia Booker, Tehia Waller and Metia Rosenberger and her husband, Chad; one brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Robin Brockhoff of Richmond, MO; one sister and brother-in-law, Judith and Cliff Stigall of St. Louis, MO; two grandchildren, Sean Brockhoff and Lauren Brockhoff; 14 step-grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by one step- daughter, Marie Waller. Larry was a Police Officer for the Kansas City Police Department from 1965 to 1969 and the Lee's Summit Police Department from 1975 until retiring in 1991. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Higginsville. He was awarded 6 Red Cross Life Savings Awards. Among the many awards he received, he was awarded the Gold Medal of Valor and Officer of the Year Award with the Kansas City Metropolitan area in 1978, and the Silver Star for bravery. He was a U.S. Marine Corp veteran of the Cuba Crisis. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Immanuel Lutheran Church Building Fund, Higginsville, MO. Memorial services will be Wednesday, August 25, at 11:00 a.m. at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville, MO. Thurman Funeral Home, Richmond, MO is in charge of the arrangements.

I extend my sympathy to all the family. May God surround all of you with an extra measure of love during these difficult days. I know Larry will be missed by many -- including the members of the Higginsville High School Class of 1958 at our upcoming reunion.
