OPAL MAY COCHRAN

Opal May Cochran, 93, of Peculiar, Mo., made her passage into heaven at home Jan. 1, 2011. Services will be 2:00 PM Wed. Jan. 5, 2011 at McGilley & George Funeral Home, 611 Chestnut, Belton, Mo. Visitation 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service. Burial in Belton Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society or Advantage Hospice. Opal was born, Aug. 19, 1917, in Holmes Park, Mo., to Myrtle and John S. Manning. She was a lifelong area resident. A homemaker who enjoyed sewing and knitting and loved to work crossword puzzles. She was preceded in death by her husband, George J. Cochran in 1988 and daughter, Audrey in 1963. Also, her sisters Nora Irvin and Violet Scott. She is survived by children, George Cochran, Westline, Mo., Mickey Cochran and Carl Cochran, Peculiar, Geraldine Richards, Raytown, Calvin Cochran, Peculiar, Jenny, Raytown, and Susan Cowan, Peculiar; brother, John Manning, Peculiar; 24 grandchildren and 42 great grandchildren, and eight great-great grandchildren.
