1921 - 2013 Obituary Condolences
Ben Krull, 92, Kansas City, Mo., passed away October 24, 2013. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, followed by a Celebration of Life at White Chapel Funeral Home. Ben was born Oct. 24, 1921, in Wilhelmshaven, Germany, and moved to Sioux City, Iowa, at the age of four. He graduated from LeMars, Iowa, High School in 1940. He was a veteran of the US Army and served during WWII in New Guinea and The Philippines from 1942-46. After returning from the war, he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Westmar University in LeMars. He taught high school physics and accounting in Correctionville, Iowa, then worked at Steel Structures, Inc., followed by 23 years with Farmland Industries in Kansas City, retiring in 1984. He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Darlene (Bloemendaal) Krull; son, Benson Krull and daughter-in-law Connie; daughter, Tamara (Krull) Curtis and son-in-law Gene; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three siblings, and daughter-in-law, Marjorie Krull. Ben was a member of the Masonic Lodge for over 50 years, the Northland Shrine Club and Ararat Shrine Club. He also belonged to the American Legion and the Hy-Vee Coffee Club. He was a member of King of Kings Lutheran Church. Ben enjoyed ballroom dancing, bridge, reading and poem recitation. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriner's Hospitals for Children, in care of Ararat Shrine Temple, 5100 Ararat Drive, Kansas City, MO 64129.
