MERLE BAXTER Obituary

Merle B Baxter, 91, of Shawnee, Kansas, passed away on April 16, 2012. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 18, 2012, from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at Delaney Funeral Home in Marceline. Graveside services will be held at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Marceline, Missouri at 2:30 pm with Reverend Grady Todd officiating. Merle was born April 5, 1921, in Bucklin, Missouri, daughter of Rolla and Nora Myers. On June 29, 1941, Merle married Carlyle E. Baxter in Marceline, Missouri. They were married for 49 years. Carlyle passed away June 5, 1990. Merle is survived by three sons, Bruce and his wife Vicki of Shawnee, Kansas, Mark of Chicago, Illinois and Brent of Seattle, Washington, five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Merle was an active member of the First Christian Church in Marceline, Missouri, Overland Park, Kansas and Emporia, Kansas. She retired from Capitol Federal Savings in 1980. There has never been a more loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Merle was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed. Memorials in her name can be made to the Alzheimer's Research Foundation or Odyssey Hospice of Kansas City.

Brent,Brittany,Bruce and the entire Baxter family - I feel so blessed to have known Merle. What a kind soul,a gentle spirit and a wonderful woman. She will no doubt be forever missed. Thinking of you all and knowing the loss you feel. So sad, yet so glad - she earned her wings.
