Our Lord Jesus opened his arms for Nicole Elizabeth Genova, 35, who passed away early Sunday morning July 14, 2013. Nicole cemented her roots in the northland as she was a fixture greeting patrons for 7 years at Cracker Barrel. She made all those pies and cobblers taste a little better with her smile that lit up any room she entered and her infectious laughter. A Park Hill Senior High Graduate and Maple Woods College Graduate, Nicole excelled in many areas, but her passion was always with the little kiddos she mentored while working at various childcare centers over the years. Every child in her care was as if they were her own as they were all loved, protected and nurtured under her watch. She enjoyed her weekend girlfriend get-togethers playing Phase 10, Farkle, Skip-Bo and others, although she did feel she may get injured from all the competitiveness associated with each visit. Nicole could be seen snapping photos at a variety of functions with family, friends and co-workers, be it at graduations, sporting events or casual, joyful play. While in the hospital, she was in the process of cementing her plans to attend the Art Institute in the fall to continue her education in photography. Nicole's spiritual growth was attributed to her daily readings, scripture texts from family, a majority involvement with Twelve Apostles Church in Platte City, as well as her extended church family at Life Spring Church on various occasions. Our family would like to say Thank You to everyone associated within the St. Luke's Mid-America Heart Institute Heart Transplant team, especially the many doctors who cared for and worked tirelessly to fight Epstein's Anomaly that affected Nicole from birth. We will never forget Nicole's nurses who treated her like family during her 3 month stay even when times weren't always the best. For this we are truly grateful and words cannot express how much each and every one of you meant to Nicole. You were her beloved family away from home. She is survived by her father, Carl Genova, Sr. of Henderson, NV; her mother, Elizabeth Lindbergh of Platte City, MO; siblings Cathleen Roby (Tim) of Kansas City, MO, Carl Genova Jr. (Mia) of Placentia CA, Paul Genova (Gretchen) of Titusville FL, Steve Genova (Jennifer) of Gladstone MO, Andrea Boe (Steve) of Las Vegas NV, Jennifer Wilson (Johnny) of Aurora, CO; many nieces, nephews, cousins and one great niece. Visitation Services will be on Wednesday, July 17 from 6:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. at D.W. Newcomer's White Chapel, 6600 NE Antioch Rd., Gladstone, MO. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday July 18 beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Twelve Apostles Church, 17900 Humphrey's Road, Platte City, MO 64098, (Running Horse Road to 136th St., turn West) with procession to graveside burial at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks for contributions to Children's Mercy Hospital Cardiac Unit, or St. Luke's Mid-America Heart Institute Heart Transplant Unit. A Luncheon Reception at Twelve Apostles Church to follow burial. Fond memories and condolences for the family may be left at (Arrangements by D.W. Newcomer's Sons White Chapel Funeral Home, 6600 N. Antioch Rd., Gladstone, MO 64119, 816-452-8419) D
