Obituary Condolences

On September 3, 2013 heaven welcomed a colorful and irreverent character. Robert Bruce Sears Sr. passed away peacefully after a long illness. Bruce is survived by his children: Audrey Smith, Robert Bruce Sears Jr., Christopher Sears, Douglas Sears, Tedrick Sears, and Stacy Teallow; grandchildren, Jacqueline, Mackenzie, Hayley, Dylan, Brittani, Brandon and Alex Sears and Eric Teallow, Jr; his three great grandchildren; and his siblings: Peggy Wood, Judy Adel, Bernard Sears and Michael Sears. A Kansas City Missouri native, Bruce graduated with honors from the University of Kansas Law School and went on to become a prominent local attorney. He served in the JAG Corps during his time in the Army. Throughout his law career, Bruce tried many important cases, but his true professional legacy was his willingness to help others, regardless of the nature of their need. Bruce was an avid KU basketball fan, Eagle Scout and outdoorsman. Nicknamed 'Papa Gator' by his grandchildren, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and boating. Fondly remembered for building model boats and sinking real ones, every moment with Bruce was an adventure. A committal ceremony with military honors will be held at Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 Clark Rd (State Rd 72) Sarasota, Florida on Monday, September 16, 2013 at 3 PM. Arrangements are being handled by All Veterans-All Families at 941.377.1060. A celebration of Bruce's life will be at Jess & Jim's, 517 E 135th Street, KCMO, on September 21 at 1:00 p.m.
