ROBERTA "JEAN" ENDSLEY Obituary
Nov. 2, 1948 - July 18, 2014 An angel was sent to heaven today after a long battle with cancer she fought the battles and won the war because now she is heaven with her family that preceded her . . . parents, Helen Clair Endsley (Shyrock) and father, Joseph Oliver Endsley, brother, William Keith Endsley and nephew, James Craig Endsley. Jean Endsley was born in Kansas City, Mo., on Nov. 2, 1948; she was a twin. Jean grew up in a small town of Odessa, Mo., where she attended and graduated from Odessa High School, class of 1966. Jean graduated with a BS degree in Nutrition and dietetics. Jean's professional career included dietitian at Ray County Memorial Hospital, Columbia Regional Hospital, and Kadina Army Hospital in Okinawa, Japan. Following her career as a dietitian she returned to Central MO State University and received her Master's Degree in Industrial Safety and Health. After graduation she became a safety and health manager for Square D. While she worked at Square D, Jean was appointed to the National Safety Council's electronic and electrical sub-committee she served as president of the Columbia Safety Council of MO. Jean was on several occasions the guest speaker at National Safety Councils annual meetings all over the United States. She began her own safety consulting company, Endsley and Associates, serving small manufacturing companies in MO as well as several other states. After many years of consulting she decided to enter a career at the MO Department of Transportation where she retired in March of 2009. After retirement her community activities included several mission trips around the world, an active Kiwanis member, taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, and severed on several church committees. Jean's hobbies included: quilting, golf, bridge, and traveling. Jean is survived by her twin sister, Ronda Joan Endsley; sister-in-law, Connie Endsley; two daughters, Angela Marie Gambino and Melissa Annette Gambino; two grandchildren, Mallroie Clair Selvage and Michael Anthony Selvage; nieces and nephews, Stacy Hall and family, Tammy Al-Hasan and family, Kari Lege and family, Bryan Endsley and family, Jeffery Endsley and family; cousins, Bonnie Kay White, Steve Doyal, Jo Ellen W and family and John Mullins and family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, California Nutrition Center or . Please come celebrate and say farewell to the most amazing mother, daughter, aunt, grandmother (momo), sister, and friend. Funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 20, at the First Baptist Church in California, Mo. Officiating will be the Rev. Greg Morrow. Burial will be in the Odessa Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, California.
