TRACEY LYNN "BABE" ESTES Obituary
Tracey 'Babe' Lynn Estes, of Leawood, KS, was born October 8, 1960 near the water in Corpus Christi, TX. She passed away surrounded by her loving family and friends early on Saturday, June 8, 2013. Our Tracey battled like she lived her life, with courage, humor and most importantly, grace. She has been described by so many as always having had a light around her, and if you were ever blessed to be in her presence, it is certain you would agree. Tracey played softball for and was a graduate of Shawnee Mission North and the University of Kansas (Rock Chalk!). She had an extremely successful career as a financial manager, most recently with her own Allstate Agency in Kansas City, MO. Tracey was a charming, beautiful woman, always funny, always loyal and smart as a whip. Her passions were cooking and fishing. It was always worth the wait to sit down to one of her meals or be by her side when she hooked a nice fish. She found happiness in simple pleasures like spending time with friends around a pool, at the lake, in the kitchen or at a great burger dive. No matter where she was, her infectious laugh would fill the room. It was always an event when Tracey was present, even near the end. Tracey was preceded in death by her father, Elmer Estes. She is survived by many, including her sister, Julie Estes; brother, Greg Estes (wife Bonnie); nephew, Thomas Estes (wife Renee) and son, great-nephew Thomas Lee; niece, Taylor Estes; mother Sue Morse, step-father, Warren Morse; step- sister, Brenda Long, and Tracy Withrow, who cared for her lovingly every day. She is also survived by many, many friends who were her family and care givers: Julie Quirin, Teri Miller, Michelle Pruitt, Brenda DeGroot, Margaret Douglas and, the list goes on, enough to fill a book. Last but certainly not least, Tracey is survived by her faithful dog, Q. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to everyone who touched Tracey's life in such a warm and loving manner, including the wonderful staff of St. Luke's Cancer Institute and St. Luke's Hospice staff, Doug, Kelly and Bobbi. A celebration memorial service will be Saturday, June 15, 2013 at Unity Church on the Plaza at 10:00 a.m., with visitation beginning at 9:00. The celebration will continue on June 16 at 1:00 p.m. at BB's Lawnside BBQ, 1205 E. 85th St, KCMO. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that those wishing to honor Tracey consider the following organizations: St. Luke's Cancer Institute; St. Luke's Hospice Care or Wayside Waifs.
