MARGIE BIXBY Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 3, 2010.
Margie Morris Bixby was born in Mahaska, KS, on April 12, 1929. Margie was a majorette in the Washington Kansas High School marching band and graduated in 1946. She moved to New York City when she was 19 to become a dress designer. She met her first husband, Lee Vogel, when he was a lifeguard on Long Island. They married, moved to Kansas City in 1950, and divorced 13 years later. She married Joseph R. Bixby in 1975. They were an indomitable pair until his passing in 2004. Margie has been a dress designer, model, wedding consultant for Harzfeld's, and Office manager for Rohm and Haas Chemical Company. To her closest friends and family, Margie was known for her pragmatism and impish irreverence. To everyone else Margie was gracious, always gracious. She is survived by her brother, Robert Cameron Morris, and wife, PJ, of Arlington, TX; a son, Lee Marc Vogel (Kansas City); and a granddaughter, Miranda Vogel (Lafayette, IN). Also, daughter by marriage, Nancy Hudson, and husband, Dave (Lander, WY), and their children Kellie, Patrick, Christopher, and four great-grandchildren. Also cousins Beverly Hoffsett (Topeka, KS), and Betty Ann King (Vassar, KS). In lieu of flowers, the family asks you consider a gift to the Heart of America Chapter of Alzheimer's Association, 3846 West 75th Street, Prairie Village, KS 66208. Condolences may be made at www.mtmoriah-freeman.com. Mt Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home. 10507 Holmes Rd., Kansas City, MO 64131. (816) 942-2004

Lee,
I am sorry to hear about your mother. She was one of a kind - there will never be anyone like her. Margie was always a "lady" and excelled at everything. I feel fortunate to have known her. My deepest sympathy -

Dear Marc and family, "gracious" what a wonderful description of your Mom. Gracious: characterized by showing a natural kindness and generosity of spirit. I was a recipient of her graciousness--it endeared her in my heart--and for that I am grateful. I know you will miss her and so I will pray for your comfort.
