TERRY "T-BIRD" VOSS Obituary
Terry "T-Bird" Voss, 65, of Kansas City, Mo., passed away unexpectedly January 22, 2014, after a short, but brave battle against pancreatic cancer. Terry was born Sept. 1, 1948, in Jefferson City, Mo., to Arthur and Alice Voss. He grew up in Linn, Mo., and graduated from Linn High School in 1966. Terry served in the United States Air Force for four years during the Vietnam War, including a year spent in Thailand. Following his honorable discharge, Terry returned to Missouri and married his loving wife of 40 years, Virginia "Ginny" Voss. Terry worked in the telecommunications industry for 35 years, starting at Southwestern Bell. He continued to work for AT&T, Lucent Technologies and Avaya before retiring in 2001. Terry was a proud and active member of the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association and the Patriot Guard Riders, for which he was a ride captain. He was also actively involved with TNC Community, which serves disabled adults, including his son, Brad. Terry enjoyed riding his motorcycle, playing golf and working on DIY projects around the home. More than anything, Terry enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his young granddaughter. He is survived by his wife, Ginny; son, Brad; daughter, Sarah Hanson and son-in-law Matt, and their daughter Charlotte; his mother, Alice; siblings, Gerrie Madsen, Kathy Branson, Allen Voss, Arlene Vogel, Harvey Voss, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur; brother, Ron, and parents-in-law, Gerrie and Paul Baker. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to TNC Community - Claymont House in honor of Terry's love for his son, Brad, at www.tnccommunity.com Funeral service 12:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 27, at Mount Moriah Terrace Park Chapel with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial with full military honors at Leavenworth National Cemetery following the service, escorted by the Patriot Guard Riders and Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association. The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Bownik and his staff and Dr. Sirredge and his staff. Terry was exceptionally loyal and devoted to his family and friends. He was so loved and will be in our hearts forever.
