Obituary Condolences

ALICE MARIE KUTCHKO SHOWS Alice Marie (Kutcho) Shows, 91, passed away Wed. Feb, 12, 2014 peacefully in the home surrounded by her family. Alice was born to Louis and Mary Rose (Munjak) Kutchko and was one of seven children raised on Strawberry Hill in Kansas City, Kansas. She went to St. John the Baptist Church and School. Alice was the editor in chief of her 1942 Wyandotte High School yearbook, and graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1979 with an Associate's Degree at Mission College. She lived in California from 1952 to 1989. She was the original 'Rosie the Riveter' working at North American Aviation during WWII. Her career with the Los Angeles School District included 15 years as the manager of the TelFair Elementary Diagnostic clinics for children, totaling over 25 years of service. She was Vice- President of California School Employees Association. She worked at the Kansas Health Department, also KU Medical Center as Secretary in the nursing division, when the nursing students slept at the school. Alice was a member of St. John's Senior Citizens. She was a member of Legion of Mary in California, Den Mother, Volunteer at Cancer Action and Sanctuary of Hope. She raised 8 beautiful children and had patience, so much love and warmth, along with a deep faith in God. She was preceded in death by husband George, 2 brothers, 4 sisters and son James. Surviving her are 4 sons: George, Alan, Stephen and Paul Shows; 3 daughters: Gail and Kathy Shows, Therese DeBarr; 21 grandchildren, as well as great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She is the best mom in the world. The Funeral Mass will be Friday, February 14, at 10:00am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 708 North 4th St., KCKS, with Visitation starting at 9:00am. Burial in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to St. John the Baptist Church and Sanctuary of Hope. Special thanks to Fr. Dennis Wait, SOH Family, Fr.
