William C. "Bill" Turner Obituary
William C. "Bill" Turner, 78, passed away February 10, 2014, at his Honolulu residence. Preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Irene (O'Neall) Turner, wife, Marilyn Shaffer Turner, and sisters, Peggy Turner and Nora Turner. Survived by his niece, Cherie MacQueen of Highland, Calif. Bill was born in Kansas City, Kan., in 1935. He's a graduate of Westport High School in 1953 in Kansas City, Mo. He served in the Naval Reserve from 1953-1961 in Olathe, Kan. Bill loved music and travel. He sang in the church choir, and graduated to Barbershop and Chorus as a teenager. When Bill and wife Marilyn moved to Hawaii in 1971, he continued the musical vein with the Aloha Chorus, The Coral Chordsmen, and The Castaways quartets. He especially loved traveling to southern France and the Greek Isles. Bill retired from Grace Pacific in 2011. A memorial service occurred at the Unity Church Chapel in Honolulu on Sunday. Feb. 23. Inurnment at Floral Hills Mortuary, Kansas City, Mo. A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, March 3, at Cremation Chapel, Floral Hills Mortuary, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd., (816) 353-1218.
