VERNICE M. (STONER) GRAHAM Obituary
VERNICE M. (STONER) GRAHAM Vernice M. (Stoner) Graham 89 of Kansas City, Missouri daughter of Philip A. and Ceola M. McFarland was born on January 13, 1925 at Cross Timbers, Missouri. She passed away March 4, 2014 at her home. Her parents moved to Malta Bend, Missouri where she graduated from High School in 1942. Later that year she was united in marriage to Carl Bruce Stoner, owner of Western Auto Store in Marshall, Missouri. In 1944 they moved to Kansas City where daughter Phyllis Marie was born. After several moves they purchased a variety store in Drexel, Missouri. In 1952 they were blessed with the birth of a son , John Winston. In 1955 Carl passed away. Vernice continued to operate Stoner's Variety Store until 1976, at that time she sold the store and went to work for the Grandview Bank. She was very active in many civic organizations. PTA, 4 H Club, Boy Scouts, Chamber of Commerce and Drexel Development Corp. She was Sec/Treasure and on Board of Directors of the last two. She was a member of First Baptist Church. While working at the Gtandview Bank she met Robert D. Graham, Jr. and they were married March 31, 1993. She was preceded in death by her husband Carl, daughter Phyllis, parents and sisters Avis Crane, Ollie Boyd, and Hilda Sweikert. She is survived by husband Robert, son John Winston Stoner, grandson John Winston Stoner II and wife Julie, grandaughter LaNece Hanks and husband David, and step son Karl J. Graham, sister Carolyn Morgan and husband Larry, brother Walter L. McFarland and Wife Arlene. Brother in law Rollin Boyd, three great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Friday March 7, 2014 at 10:00am at the Langsford Funeral Home with visitation starting at 9:30am. Burial will be at the Lee's Summit Cemetery following the service.
