THERON ORMAN MILLER Obituary
July 25th, 1926 - March 7th, 2014 Theron Orman Miller was born July 25, 1926 in Bolivar, Missouri. He passed into Heaven March 7, 2014 at the John Knox Care Center in Lee's Summit, MO, surrounded by his family. He was the son of Paul Younger Miller and Maggie Leota (Wheeler) Miller. He lived in the Bolivar, Aldrich, and Fair Play areas except for four years during the Depression when his family lived near Santa Paula, California. He graduated from Fair Play High School on May 19, 1944. In October 1944, he was inducted into the US Army. As an 18-year old, he fought in WWII in the Philippines during the liberation of Luzon. He received a Bronze Star and was honorably discharged on November 18th, 1946. He worked on the family farm with his father then moved to Kansas City, Missouri, where he worked for the Bendix Corporation and the Ford Motor Company. He married Bethel Strickland on April 25, 1952. They were married for 61 years 11 months. In September 1954, they moved to Bolivar, Missouri where they had their children Dan and Diane. The family moved to Lee's Summit in 1964. Theron was employed by the Missouri Department of Transportation for 36 years until his retirement in 1990. He was a deacon and Sunday School teacher at First Baptist Lee's Summit, a devout man of God with a deep knowledge of the Bible. He was quietly strong, known for his kindness, gentleness, humility, and patience. He loved baseball, playing cards with his family, and reading westerns. He will be remembered as a truly Godly man who was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Elaine Miller Rice. He is survived by his wife Bethel; his son Daniel Miller, his daughter Diane Weeda, and her husband Randy Weeda, all of Lee's Summit; his grandson Ryan Weeda and granddaughter Rachel Weeda, both of Glendale, CA; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. There will be a visitation at Langsford Funeral Home in Lee's Summit Sunday, March 9th from 2- 4pm. The funeral will be held at First Baptist Church of Lee's Summit at 2pm on Monday, March 10th. Following the service, the burial will be at Floral Hills East Cemetery in Lee's Summit, MO
