CHARLES W. "PETE" SCHIESZER Charles Wilbur "Pete" Schieszer, 92, of Blue Springs, MO passed away March 19 surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was born to Roy and Frankie (LaRue) Schieszer on January 21, 1922 in Marshall, MO. Charles married the love of his life Mary Thiel in January of 1951. Pete Graduated from Marshall High School in 1939. He attended Chillicothe College and entered the Navy in 1942. He proudly served his country as a Radio Operator aboard a P.T. Boat in the Pacific Rim during World War II and was called back to serve his country during the Korean Conflict. Pete worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a mail carrier and later worked at the Lake City Ammunitions plant. Pete and Mary moved to Blue Springs, MO in 1960 and was an active member and volunteer of St. John Lalande Catholic church and the American Legion. Pete loved to garden, fish, hunt, and attend sporting events. Pete and good friend Louis Swaim bought a cabin in Park Rapids, MN and both families spent many years fishing and boating at their vacation home. Pete and Mary met most mornings with their friends for breakfast. Pete was generous husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be greatly missed by those who knew him. Survivors include his four sons: Steve Schieszer of Blue Springs, MO, Larry Schieszer and wife Carol of Mission KS, Lonnie Schieszer of Belton, MO, David Schieszer of Flower Mound, TX; brother, John Roy Schieszer of Independence, MO; grandchildren, Kurt, Amanda, Daniel, Alex and Cole. Pete was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Mary Lorretta (Thiel) Schieszer, his parents Frankie (LaRue) Schieszer and Roy Schieszer and sister, Joan Schieszer. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Monday, March 24, 2014 at the Meyers Funeral Chapel 1600 W. Main St, Blue Springs, MO. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at St. John Lalande Catholic Church 805 NW R D Mize Rd, Blue Springs, MO. Burial will follow immediately at the Missouri Veteran Cemetery in Higginsville, MO. The family asks that memorial contributions be made to Kansas City Hospice House 12000 Wornall Rd. Kansas City, MO. Arrangements have been entrusted to Meyers Funeral Chapel.
