CHARLES "DOUG" ESTES Obituary
Charles 'Doug' Estes, 86, Overland Park, KS, passed away on Sat., April 12, 2014. A Celebration of Life Service will be at 11a.m. on Thurs., April 17 at the Overland Park Church of the Nazarene. A luncheon at the church will follow the service. Memorial contributions may be made to either the Overland Park Church of the Nazarene-Nicaragua Mission Partnership (9030 Lamar, Overland Park, KS 66207) or HELP Humane Society of Belton (17122 Bel Ray Place, Belton, MO 64012). Doug was born August 29, 1927 in Miami County, KS, to Melvin and Florence (Chambers) Estes. He was a 1945 graduate of Osawatomie High School and a decorated veteran of WWII. Doug was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Fern, who passed away in 2008. Doug is survived by two daughters, Debbie (Bill) Mize, Overland Park, KS, and Darlene (Bob) Covell, Shawnee, KS; son, Daryl (Pam) Estes, Overland Park, KS; seven grandchildren, Melissa (Colin) McDonald, Eric Covell, Nathan (Susan) Mize, Laura (Jeff) Hamons, Kevin (Tina) Mize, Daniel (Stefanie) Estes, Andrea (Benny) Bowers; and seven great grandchildren, Connor McDonald, Parker McDonald, Elise Hamons, Kaitlyn Mize, Alaina Hamons, Addilyn Mize and Sarah Mize.
