LAWRENCE RAY BAKER Obituary
Lawrence Ray "Larry" Baker, 78, was peacefully united with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 14, 2014, with his loving wife, Cheryl, holding his hand. Visitation will be held from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm on Thursday, April 17th, at the Park Lawn Northland Chapel, I-35 at State Route 291, Liberty. A service celebrating Larry's life will be held at 11:00 am on Good Friday, April 18th, at Avondale Baptist Church, 2501 NE Parvin Road, Kansas City. MO 64116. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday at Hardin Cemetery, Hardin, MO. Larry was born July 15, 1935, in Independence, MO, the son of Theodore Wellington Baker and Helen (Morris) Baker. Along with his parents, Larry was preceded in death by four brothers, Theodore, Raymond, Robert and Kenneth Baker. He grew up in Hardin, MO, where he graduated from high school in 1953. He attended the Kansas City Art Institute, and in 1963, received his Bachelor's degree from Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg. Larry's career as a commercial artist spanned several decades, most recently for the National Federation of State High Schools for 17 years. Larry was a devoted Christian, a member of Avondale Baptist Church, and active with Promisekeepers. Survivors include his devoted wife, Cheryl; daughter, Tere D. Baker; step-daughters, Melissa Carrel (Mark) and Stacey Robbins (Chris). He was PaPa Baker to five step- grandchildren, Travis, Damon, Trenton, Moriah and Levi; sister, Doris Mae Drooger; brothers, Richard Baker (Lulabelle) and Donald Baker (Natalie); sister-in-law, Mary Lou Leslie; and many nieces and nephews. Larry will be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched. In lieu of flowers, you may honor Larry with a donation to his church or to the .
