Vincent Arslanian, 92, of Independence, MO, passed away Thursday, April 17, 2014. Vincent was born December 9, 1921 in Detroit, MI, the only son of Harabet and Arax (Tetezian) Arslanian. He attended the University of Detroit before enlisting in the Army. Vincent was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII serving in France and the Philippines. After the war Vincent returned to the University of Detroit where he received his Chemical Engineering Degree. He worked at various companies in Detroit, Syracuse, Kansas City, and Minneapolis as project supervisor packaging specialist before retiring in 1988 from the U.S. Department of the Army. Vincent and his wife moved to Kansas City to be near family in 1989. He later went back to work for the EPA as environmental engineer, retiring in 2004. Vincent was a member of the Shriners, NRA, and the American Legion Post #21. He married Rosemarie Davidian in 1951, she preceded him in death in 1994; he was also preceded in death by his son Bob Arslanian in 1996. Survivors include his daughter, Susan Matthews and husband Scott; son, Steve Arslanian and wife Regina; grandchildren, Erica Matthews, Jennifer Robinson, Dara Harris, Jared, Hannah and Rebecca Arslanian; three great grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Patti Witte and husband Mark. Visitation will be from 2:00-3:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at Speaks Suburban Chapel; 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. A memorial service will follow at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Military Honors. Memorial contributions may be made to the University of Detroit (Mercy) Engineering Department or the American Legion Post 21.
