VIVIAN D. HALLEY Obituary
Vivian D. Johnson Halley, 86, of Kansas City, MO, passed away at her home on April 27, 2014, at 8:30 p.m. She was born August 21, 1927, in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of Arthur and Rose (Lawson) Johnson. Vivian's passion was dancing, choosing her path in life at the age of five. She knew she wanted to dance with Gillespie-Sullivan, marry, then have two children: a girl first, then a boy, then teach dance again. Vivian danced professionally during World War II for the military, and later at Starlight Theater and throughout Kansas City. Later, Vivian opened Halley Dance Studio, where she was a wonderful instructor and mentor to many students of all ages for 30 years. She also taught Sunday school at North Cross United Methodist Church for 20 years. Along with her parents, Vivian was preceded in death by two brothers and her beloved son, Scott R. Halley. She leaves her husband of 60 years, Jimmy O. Halley, of the home; her daughter, Carolyn Halley Clifford of Broken Arrow, OK; five grandchildren, Jeremy Lewis (Kristyn), Brandon Lewis, Timothy Clifford, all of Oklahoma, April Halley of Liberty, MO, and Sara Ward (Adam) of Smithville, MO. She also cherished her four great grandchildren, Cami and Kylie Lewis of Oklahoma, Scott and Seth Ward of Smithville, MO; as well as other family members and many friends. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 1, at the Park Lawn Northland Chapel, I-35 at State Route 291, Liberty. A private service and burial will be Friday, May 2, in Mount Moriah Cemetery. Remembering Vivian's love for animals, especially her Chihuahuas, memorial contributions to Wayside Waifs are suggested in lieu of flowers.
